WHAT ARE LODs?

LOD, short for Level of Detail, is an optimization method in game development. The closer an 3d object is the player during gameplay, the more level of detail, higher poly count and texture size is presented; the father away the player moves away from 3d object, less level of the detail will be displayed, lower poly count and texture size. This method is applied in the game engine and saves memory and computation power.
